TRAIAN HOTEL 4*

Built between 1879 and 1882 by the company led by Eiffel, in French neoclassical style, on a metal structure (a novelty at the time), with cast-iron columns and metal platforms, this innovative project ultimately led to Scarlat Pastia’s financial ruin. In order to cover his debts, Scarlat Pastia was forced to transfer the building to the “Credit Urban” company, which subsequently converted it into a hotel.

The hotel later became the property of the Jewish Theitler family, and in 1942 the building was expropriated from the heirs of Adolf Theitler. One year after the expropriation, the Iași City Hall renovated the hotel using its own funds, and in 1950 it was nationalized.
